God in the afterthought, later yet fresh,
God in the smiles and frowns,
God in the backwoods, the dirt roads and farms,
God in the cities and towns.

God in the questions, asked purely for fun,
God in the answers not found,
God in the littlest effort put forth,
God in the quest without bound.

God in the basketball court playing ball
God in each prayerful shot,
God in the concrete that’s seen many games,
God in the battle well fought.

God in the children who hunger for love,
God in the arms that embrace,
God in the pain that’s so painfully clear,
though hidden behind cheerful face.

God in the margins where life takes its toll,
on those too unlucky for chance,
God in the hunger for more than just food,
God in the song that brings dance.
